MIDLIFE CRISIS

Finding success is a fundamental human need. Those who find their personal and professional success can achieve more, while those who don’t invariably fail. In the second half of life, your ability to identify and take ownership of your own 'successes' gives you the necessary fillip in the process of finally finding your authentic voice.

Success means discovering your unique self, that, which motivates you best and is a requirement for a fuller happier life. Once you identify your past successes and embrace them, almost automatically you are better prepared for making the transition to the kind of work that re-invigorates your inner strengths

Gaining a clearer vision of what kinds of activities and dreams motivated you most in the past is a good place to start. Perception is the foundation of positive self-esteem - if you 'see' success in yourself - you are successful! Make a list of all your events that others viewed as successful with any private events you personally thought were successful.

By studying your list, existing patterns can show how you achieved success and under what circumstances. What you are doing is constructing your success formula. If the formula worked for you before, chances are that it will work for you again. Re-discover your own success formula, that unique combination of factors that you use to engineer your own success and you have uncovered an essential key to moving forward, regardless of your goal.

Perhaps now, when you are beyond life's midpoint, you have achieved a certain status, you may be more interested in your own definition of success. Rather than pursuing someone else's dream it is often found that second career seekers quite often want more than to simply replicate past successes, but wish to activate a deeper personal yearning.
